چکیده
Emotional bonds don’t arise from a simple exchange of facial displays, but often emerge through the dynamic give and take of face-to-face interactions. This article explores the phenomenon of rapport, a feeling of connectedness that seems to arise from rapid and contingent positive feedback between partners and is often associated with socio-emotional processes. Rapport has been argued to lead to communicative efficiency, better learning outcomes, improved acceptance of medical advice and successful negotiations. Virtual Coaches over Mobile Video
We hypothesize that the context of a smartphone, how a virtual human is presented within a smartphone app, and indeed, the nature of that app, can profoundly affect how the virtual human is perceived by a real human. We believe that virtual humans, presented over video chat services (such as Skype) and delivered using mobile phones, can be an effective way to deliver coaching applications. We p...

متن کاملUnexploited Dimensions of Virtual Humans
Virtual Humans are on the border of fiction and realism: while it is obvious that they do not exist in reality and function on different principles than real people, they have been endowed with human features such as being emotionally sensitive. In this article we argue that many dimensions, both human-like ones and ones made possible by the computer technology, are still unexploited to increas...

This paper investigates aspects in designing auditory spaces to support novel forms of interaction in virtual spaces. Initial research on human imagined sounds from places has identified ‘expectation’ as an important psychological construct. Second study shows that there are differences between sounds people expect to hear in places and sounds recorded from real life places. Instead of designin...
